Hello Yusra,
Thank you for using The Baby Sleep Site as a resource! I’m sorry to hear your nephew is having trouble sleeping. Based on his age and your description of his naps, I bet he’s dealing with the 4 month sleep regression, which happens to all babies around this age. We have an article on it here describing symptoms and how to help: https://www.babysleepsite.com/baby-sleep-patterns/4-month-sleep-regression/
I hope this helps, but please feel free to write us at contact@babysleepsite.com if you need further help!

@Lynn, thank you for writing to us. I am sorry your once 10-12 hour sleeper is now waking in the middle of the night! It can be difficult to determine what the cause is without looking at a full picture of her sleep history to see what the contributing factors may be. For additional information that may be able to provide some answers, we have a free ebook with tips for sleeping through the night if you would like to download it and look through: https://www.babysleepsite.com/baby-sleep-through-night-free-ebook/
If the problem persists and she does develop a habit of eating (when she does not need the calories) and you need help breaking it, let us know. We have an amazing team of consultants that can help walk you through the process to getting her sleeping again in a way that you feel confident about implementing. 🙂 You can contact us directly at contact@babysleepsite.com
Hang in there! I hope this is a phase that passes soon!

Her pamper is soaked and a quick change and rock back asleep doesn’t work. We have to feed her and she goes back asleep. I don’t want her to get used to eating in the middle of the night but I’ve tried an hour of trying to get her to sleep without it and my nerves are shot!! HELP!!

@ Kim Keen – well, generally it’s over when things go back to normal, sleep-wise. If things aren’t back to normal in another 1-2 weeks, then it may be that your baby has formed some sleep habits that you’ll need to work on correcting – you can usually just do some gentle sleep training (provided you’ve sleep trained before, and your baby knows how to fall asleep alone), and that will get things back on track.

Thanks for your comment, Kim! 🙂

How do you know when it is over?
