Hi Dee,
Thank you for checking us out – I’m so glad to hear the website has been helpful for you! Most 3 month-old babies are still eating every 2-3 hours during the day, and we are working to get most of their calories in during the daylight hours (though of course we expect to see several night feeds at this age still, too). So, this schedule works for most babies, but of course, everyone is different. You can always give it a try and adjust as needed. Hope this helps!

Thanks for this informative, practical website. If I understand correctly, in both schedules we’re waking the baby to feed and also very close together. I see some feedings are just 2 hours apart. Will baby be hungry enough? Should 3 month olds be consistently eating every 2 hours?

Hi @Stephanie –
Thank you for writing and for using our 3 month old schedule as a resource! Feel free to make the suggested schedules your own! As long as your baby is getting enough ounces/feeds at the breast, and is growing and developing well, following something that looks more like the formula schedule should be fine! If you’re at all concerned, a quick call to the pediatrician to ask how many ounces/breastfeeding sessions he should be getting can give you specific insight based on his weight and growth – and give you peace of mind too! : )

Is it ok to use the formula feeding schedule because that seems more like our schedule. He’s currently drinking 5 to 6 ounces via bottle and takes both breast when I breastfeed in the evening and night.

Hi @Marla Rae –
Thank you for writing to us! Yes! Naps can be 30 minutes at this age, especially the last naps of the day! Thanks for writing and for using our site as a resource for your family’s sleep!

Hi Mackenzie,
Thank you so much for visiting – I’m so glad to hear our articles have helped your family! I don’t think we have any articles on this, but in most cases, baby just kind of starts dropping that last nap on her own somewhere around 4 months, and so the “last nap” becomes bedtime. I hope this helps, but please let us know if you have any questions!

Hi Theresa,
Thanks for reading! I believe Neosha is referring to sleep associations, which can be positive, but which sometimes can turn into a problem down the road. We have an article on them here: https://www.babysleepsite.com/sleep-training/sleep-association/
Hope that helps!
