@ Mark — this definitely sounds trying! It’s good, though, that you’ve gotten a handle on what exactly your little boy is allergic to, and that you’ve taken decisive steps toward managing his allergies. Some families suffer for years before finally figuring out that food allergies are what’s causing their babies’ issues, and before getting a clear diagnosis.

Glad you found the tips in this article helpful. And thanks, too, for sharing some of your own substitution tips! 🙂

He has had 4 anaphylactic reactions, one to egg, it appears at least one with a cross contamination with milk and the other two unknown but likely from cross contamination as well. It is trying at best and our concern is also as he gets older and goes to bday parties – since most desserts and such contain dairy egg or both!! I am very interested to try the banana as a sub for egg in recipes as that has been a challenge.
We have found coconut yoghurt as an exceptional sub, and the preferred milk choice is rice milk from rice dream. It is crisp tasting without the aftertaste from soy.
We have had a challenge on the butter sub front though as the coconut butter gets powdery when cooked but we lean more to an avocado oil or the like.
Thanks for the tips and the info!
