Hi @Jade, thanks for visiting the Baby Sleep Site. I wish I knew the answer as I would use it for my son as well. It is so tiring to get up and take them each night, I feel your pain. I have heard of tapering off liquids by a certain time of the day and if they ask for water before bed to offer it in a super tiny cup. I think all bladders and their capacity are different and the deepness of the sleeper is going to contribute to bed wetting as well. If you find anything that works, please share here! I know myself and tons of other moms would love to know if there’s a secret to this that we’re missing. Hang in there!

Our 2.5 yr old has Been dry thanks to dream pees at night for about a year. But she still pees so much during dream pees. Is there a way to transition so she wakes up to pee herself. I experimented with not waking her up for a dream pee and she then peed the bed. She has been potty independent for a year too. Thanks!

EC offers so many benefits to baby, your family, your pocketbook and the environment. But sleep trumps all! I waited until my son was 2 years and 4 months to do sleep training, and it was HARD work. I really wish I had sleep trained both of my sons when they were about 6 months old.

I’ve noticed with my second baby that sometimes she is fine with pottying at night, but when a tooth is cutting through she’d rather not use the potty. At those times I just change her diaper right after she pees. With my first baby I would nurse him over a potty insert at night, so he was always soothed and never resisted pottying at night.

I just wanted to mention for those of us who are happy to breastfeeding during the night, frequent night feedings can continue while reaching nighttime dryness. With my first child, we stopped using diapers at night at 19-months-old. At first he would wake once at night asking to pee. Pretty soon he was dry through the night, without needing to use the potty, while still nursing every 2 to 3 hours at night. So nursing through the night, or allowing free access to water at bedtime and throughout the night, does not preclude nighttime dryness.
