For me it was important to “filter” the sounds: as Babys have a very damped sense of hearing in the womb, I found an app that creates a similar acoustic environment. The sounds are great and you can also load your own recordings. SleepFester. There is also a free version with less sounds and features – SleepFest [on Google Play].
Our two girls love it and we use it at home or on the road.

In reply to Norman D. Garica. Hi @Norman - Thank you for writing to us! The apps made for your baby are the white noise and/or lullaby music apps. These can be very helpful at helping babies/toddlers/even grown ups sleep, by blocking out other noises. The white noise apps are especially easy to replicate in any environment, using even an FM radio tuned to static. The sound is soothing, and again, can block out other noises to help induce sleep. If you are worried about starting habits that may need to be broken later, then using no songs or white noise is best, if you can keep baby's sleep area quiet. My son, James, loves to watch and listen to the app called Rabbit Hole. It plays music from your library and has a full screen visualizer with lots of bright colors. We watch and listen to music together before he goes to bed at night. It works almost every time. It even worked for both of us last night as we were laying on my bed!!

@ Bayla — so glad to hear an endorsement for Sound Sleeper! The creators actually contacted us directly about the app; I hadn’t even heard of it until we received their e-mail. It sounds so cool! And yes, that “listen” feature seems to set it apart from other white noise apps.

Sound Sleeper is our absolute favorite. Its “listening” mode, which is different from everything else we found, saved us so many sleepless nights. Highly recommended! … and the story of the creators is great too. It’s here:
